You know there is a saying about things happen in threes –well two of them have happened to me so far this week. Earlier this week my backup drive gave up on me. It just decided that it will not power up again. After many hours of tireless work, nothing came out of it and the drive is still not working.

I have had everything saved in it dating back to 2000 in hopes of that backup drives are safe and reliable. Shouldn’t they be more reliable and more resilient than the regular hard drives? What is the point of a 320G hard drive if it gives up after a year? Can you imaging the amount of data lost? I can.

I have lost over 50G of data stored on this 320G drive –and now I do not have the money to go and restore it. I can recall someone restored their hard drive of 200M and it cost around $2000. Can you guess the bill for 50G?

The second thing happened was my car. I was on my way home from a game the other night and my cars belts went out on me. I was not close to home and it was not during the day. I was driving home around 1030pm at night when I made a right turn and the car steering went dead. I had to pull up to a parking lot and stop the car.

At first I thought it was the power steering fluid. When I opened the hood and looked at the belt, it was not running but the engine was on. I parked it and got a ride home. The next day I went back and took it to a shop. After examining the damages it was obvious that the belts and everything that goes with it needed to be replaced. The bill: $598 to be exact.

I guess I am still waiting for the third thing to happen and make the circle complete. I am not sure what that will be, but it is coming.
