I haven’t written in a while

It has come to my attention that I have not been able to or have I tried to make time to write. This must stop. I must write because that is what I do. I should continue to write what come to my mind. As it flows thru, the ideas that I wish to write about are always pop in my mind. It is however very difficult to write because of time.

Time has taken over my time and will not allow me to write. It is a fight I must admit. At the end, whether I was not able to write or not, will not be an issue in the future. I have started to write and you are reading it as this moment trying to catch up to what I have to say next.

I am not sure what I should be writing next, because that is the easies say to follow these words one by one. Read in context and not in sentences. Every thing make sense at once and then it will confuse you and make yourself ask questions.

If you follow, you will get to what it is that I want to write about next. You will follow me.

You can always resolve any issue and settle down with less than you have to.

So, I owed this company $120 and they try to threaten me with going to the collections. But the thing is, the collection agencies buy companies’ depth for less than half of what it is worth. If they would have sold my dept to a collection agency, they probably would have gotten $40, maybe $50 the most.

This is not a problem for them as much as it is for you. The collection agencies put the record on your credit report in no time and as you all know, it take very long time to get rid of it -even if you pay it off. So the best thing to do is to settle with the company directly. Here is an example of emails I went back and forth with a company until we resolved it without the collection agency.

ty-Here is the problem:, because there was no cancellation form in your filefrom TheCenter that means you are still a member and  liable for the monthlydues, September, October and November. I did contact you on Monday 9/28/07and you said that you would be in to fill out the membership packet onTuesday 10/02/07. The only thing that I can do for you is to have you fillout a cancellation form and write us a letter stating you are giving your 30day cancellation notice. Along with all that you will still have to pay the$90.00 and December’s dues totaling $120.00. The reason we are charging youfor December’s dues is your 30 day notice for cancellation from now is themiddle of December. If you have any questions or concerns please let meknow. Sarah,Since your company has taken over the TheCenter, I have never once attendeda class nor have come to the center to use any of the facilities. I donot see how you can charge me $120 for months that I was never there. My contract was with TheCenter, and never with OurFacility. It seems veryunreasonable to anyone to pay a company which they have no contractwith.Thanks.ty

Ty, I apologize it has taken me so long to get back with you about this matter.Every member was carried over from TheCenter if they did not have a cancellationform in their file. TheCenter knew this and should have told you. I did contactyou on several occasions to rectify this. If you would like I can have myregional manager contact you concerning your payment of $120.00. Let me knowif you would like to talk with him. If not please contact me at this e-mailaddress or the number below. Sarah,Ok, I was never informed by Pop about any of this. Regardless, it seems that if we go back and forth, it will get no where except frustration for the both of us. I do not wish to talk to your superior as I feel that you are absolutely capable of handling the issue yourself. What I do wish for us is to reach a compromise. Since I have not visited the facility, not even once, in the last four months, I would not forgive myself for giving the $120 -so to remedy this issue and compensate you for as well, I am welling to settle this and put it behind us for $60. If you agree, I will bring the money myself to the facility Monday lunch time (12noonish). Please let me know if this works for you.Thanks.ty

Banner height/width in inches / pixels

When it comes to inches and pixels / Print and Web design, there can be plenty of confusion. When folks design for print ads, they usually go with the original measurements: inches. They also use hight dpi, perhaps 300 or so to design prints. This can be very frustrating for Web designers and programmers because they have to convert the files to 72 dpi and in pixels. If a web site is designed using the old methods of print, the height and width, when converted to pixels sometimes exceed over 2500 pixels. Have you ever seen a web site with that width?
When we reduce the size and convert the file to 72 dpi, the original design looses its look and it becomes pixelated and out of sync. The best way to counter this confusion is to design in pixels for web. This can also be confusing for print folks, so the best way is to have a system that every designer uses. Whether they are using Illustrator, InDesign and/or Photoshop, it is a good practice to have all the design in pixels and at 72 dpi.

Here is a small example of banner design dimensions:

  • 728 x 90 Banner  =  10.111 x 1.25 inches
  • 300 x 250 Banner  =  4.167 x 3.472 inches
  • 160 x 600 Banner  =  2.222 x 8.333 inches
  • 120 x 600 Banner  =  1.667 x 8.333 inches

google and counting…

Ok, so last week gmail had about 2.5 GB and counting, today:

Over 5626.014790 megabytes (and counting) of free storage so you’ll never need to delete another message.

What’s up with that?

Holiday gifts?

So you read about the money you don’t have to spend, but you are going to do it anyways. I was reading some article written in some web site about something by some one who I had no ideas was. But it remind of the gifts I had to buy for some people.

I am thinking I will be spending the money I do not have for gifts I will never see and for folks I see once a year and/or undeserving. So here we see the delimma. It is always the same. Every year the same bull all over again. Maybe there is, in the future, a time when I will have the money for christmas and I may then buy the gifts I do not need and for whomever I see fit.

For now and for a bit foreseeable future, things will remain the same. I will spend the money I don’t have for the gifts I don’t need just so I can say “Yes, I did buy you a present and you cannot see it till Christmas day.” Pity.
